The North Gwinnett PTSA has many opportunities to volunteer, both at the school and home.  

  • Campus & Academic Enrichment: (CO-PRESIDENT) Oversee School Improvement & Teacher Grants process, which also includes support for the North Gwinnett Schools Foundation and School Assemblies.
  • Communications: (SECRETARY) Oversee communications with the parents and the community through social media, website, and emails. Liaise with the school to communicate PTSA news and events in the school newsletter and announcements. Communicate both school and PTSA volunteer needs. PTSA volunteer needs include committees and PTSA-managed events. School volunteer needs include those managed by school staff (Visibility, Media Center, Ice Cream Sales, Picture Day, Scoliosis Screening, 7thGrade Career Day, etc).
  • Community Outreach: Coordinate with school staff to identify and support student and family needs within our school and local community.  Oversee Holiday Shop in coordination with School Counselors. Coordinate with Grade Level committees to organize service project opportunities, including donation drives and community service events.  Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • Faculty & Staff Appreciation: Organize celebrations throughout the year to show appreciation to the NGMS faculty & staff. Events include various breakfast/lunch events as well as the selection, purchase and delivery of birthday gifts for all staff. Coordinate with school to promote various appreciation weeks celebrated throughout the year. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • Fundraiser: (CO-PRESIDENT) Lead the Executive Board and Committee to plan and execute the annual fundraiser, which will raise the majority of our funds to support School Improvements & Teacher Grants and support basic operations. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • Membership: (TREASURER) Manage and promote PTSA memberships and donations to our students and their families as well our affiliation with Georgia and National PTA. Manage MemberHub database.
  • Reflections: Organize, manage and promote the National PTA program, communicate contest theme and requirements to students, and ensure compliance with contest guidelines. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • Shopping Rewards: Manage, organize, and promote passive fundraising campaigns such as Box Tops, Amazon Smile, and Kroger/Publix.  Develop and manage the marketing/promotion of these programs to our community as well as identify additional opportunities for partnership. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • Special Events: Lead PTSA involvement in various special events throughout the year, including Cultural Appreciation Night and Celebrate North. Participate in school planning committees and collaborate with key staff for each event. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed. Cultural Appreciation Night debuted to great success in 2020 and celebrates the diverse cultures represented at NGMS. Celebrate North showcases the many fine arts and academic programs at NGMS and also serves as an introduction for rising middle school families to learn more about the school community.
  • Spirit Nights: Organize regular spirit nights at local businesses/business partners throughout the year. Spirit Nights can be on-site at school during other events (like spirit wear sales) or at the business location and a certain % of sales will be donated to PTSA.  Determine the donation structure – whether all day or only during certain times, receipt needed, etc.
  • Spirit Wear:  Manage the design, development, sales and promotion of spirit wear to the North Gwinnett community at all school functions and events as appropriate. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • 6thGrade: Organize, promote, and manage events specific to 6thgrade, including a first semester Spirit Night and second semester social activity. Collaborate with Community Outreach to organize 6th grade service project efforts throughout the year. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
  • 7thGrade: Organize, promote, and manage events specific to 7thgrade, including a first semester Spirit Night and second semester social activity. Collaborate with Community Outreach to organize 7th grade service project efforts throughout the year. Recruit and manage volunteers as needed.
