Explore the Arts and Express Yourself! Reflections is back and this year’s theme is Accepting Imperfection.

Reflections is a National Arts competition covering six categories–visual arts, literature, photography, music composition, film production, and dance choreography. All students who love expressing themselves through the arts are encouraged to submit an entry. Students may even submit entries in more than one category.

Complete rules for each category are linked on the right.  An entry form is available here and in the media center.  The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member of the NGMS PTSA. To join, click here.

All entries are due by Friday, September 27th.  Submit Literature, Visual Arts, and Photography entries to the media center.  Submit Dance, Film, and Music entries to reflections.ngms@gmail.com.

Helpful Hints:

  • Print legibly or type your entry form.
  • Make sure your visual arts and photography submissions are mounted properly.  See rules for details.
  • Do not glue or tape your entry form to your artwork.  We will have to peel it off during the judging process.  The best way to secure your entry form to your artwork is to put it in a sheet protector and glue or tape that to the back of your artwork.
  • Make sure you clearly express how your art relates to the theme.  Theme Interpretation is worth 20 points, while Creativity and Technique are each worth 10 points.
